The Taliban have implemented several measures to maintain control over the Afghan currency, the afghani. These measures include banning the use of dollars and Pakistani rupees in local transactions, imposing strict restrictions on taking US dollars out of the country. These currency controls and restrictions on cash inflows have contributed to the afghani's significant appreciation of approximately 9% in the current quarter.
