Premium phones drive festive sales

The festive season has seen a significant increase in the sales of flagship smartphones like the iPhone and Galaxy S23, with a 25% year-on-year growth in smartphone sales. The premium segment has grown by almost 50% on Flipkart and 200% on Amazon. However, entry-level smartphone sales have struggled due to income pressures and inflation. The overall smartphone market in 2023 is expected to remain flat or decline marginally. Online platforms have seen a gross merchandise value of approximately Rs 47,000 crore.
