Special drive sees GST evasion of 1.5 lakh crore till October

The government's focus on checking GST evasion has led to a surge in detection, crossing Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the first seven months of the financial year. Recovery of taxes has reached Rs 18,541 crore. Maharashtra has the highest amount of evasion, estimated at Rs 84,400 crore. So far this year, Maharashtra has managed to recover over Rs 4,100 crore. The government is also targeting online gaming companies for tax collection, with 71 show cause notices issued involving Rs 1,12,332 crore.
