Tuesday, 12 March 2024 A govt-appointed panel has recommended enactment of a new law - Digital Competition Act - to allow the Competition Commission to monitor large digital enterprises and intervene before instances of anti-competitive conduct transpire. The move is meant to deal with entities such as Google, Facebook and Amazon that use data ("the defining feature of digital markets") and supplement the Competition Act.
