Home secretary apologises after joking about spiking his wife's drink
Saturday, 23 December 2023 James Cleverly has apologised after joking about spiking his wife's drink with a date rape drug in comments made at a Downing Street reception hours within hours of the Home Office announcing plans to crack down on spiking.
Rishi Sunak has said he will introduce a new form of mandatory National Service for young people if the Conservatives win the general election. Home Secretary James Cleverly said there would be no arrest made for young people if they refuse to take part in National Service.
