Muslims hold key in 40 seats in Telangana, Congress hopes for Karnataka rerun

Buoyed by its victory in Karnataka assembly polls despite BJP’s high-voltage Hindutva pitch, Congress is hoping to wean away a large chunk of the minority vote in the ensuing Telengana elections and Lok Sabha polls next year. At least 40 assembly constituencies in Telangana have a sizable Muslim population, which can tilt the electoral fortunes of any party.
