Amarnath Yatra halted for second successive day as heavy rain continues in Kashmir
Saturday, 8 July 2023 The Amarnath Yatra was suspended for the second consecutive day on Saturday due to inclement weather conditions as rain continued to lash most parts of Kashmir, officials said. The yatra remains suspended from both the Pahalgam and the Baltal routes for the second day due to the inclement weather. No pilgrim was allowed to move towards the holy cave shrine this morning, they said.

Four soldiers of the Indian Air Force were injured when two vehicles in their convoy came under heavy terrorist fire in the Surankote area of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, sources said. Reinforcement was rushed to the area and counter-terror operations are underway. This is the first major attack on the armed forces this year in the region which witnessed a series of terror attacks on the army last year. Visuals from after the attack showed at least a dozen bullet holes on the windscreen of the vehicle that came under fire.
