Muslim population in 2023 estimated to be 20 crore: Lok Sabha

In her written reply to a set of questions in Lok Sabha by Mala Roy of Trinamool Congress, minority affairs minister Smriti Irani said Muslims accounted for 14.2% of the total population as per Census 2011 and their population share in 2023 was projected going by the same proportion.
