No tie-up with BJP for 2024 Lok Sabha polls, says ex-ally SAD

IndiaTimes Thursday, 28 September 2023
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has announced that it will not form a coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The decision was influenced by SAD's focus on Punjab and the party's belief that it can be a strong force in the state without an alliance with BJP. SAD will instead rely on its alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and reach out to Left parties.

Mayawati Drops Hammer: Akash Anand Stripped Of BSP Succession, Uttar Pradesh Reacts

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP-led NDA alliance faces the formidable INDIA Alliance. The once-dominant BSP, notably absent, has made headlines with Mayawati removing her nephew, Akash Anand, as her successor due to his lack of political maturity. Despite a shrinking voter base, BSP still holds influence. Akash's rise and subsequent removal reveal internal rifts, possibly stemming from BSP's tacit support for BJP.
