Record 45 lakh pilgrims make it to Char Dham yatra this year

IndiaTimes Friday, 6 October 2023
This year's Char Dham yatra has broken previous records with a total of 44.7 lakh pilgrims visiting the shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri. Kedarnath saw a higher turnout than Badrinath for the first time. Yamunotri and Gangotri also experienced a significant increase in visitors. With approximately 50 days remaining, authorities expect the total number of pilgrims to exceed 50 lakhs. The yatra had a lull during the monsoon season but now attracts around 40,000 pilgrims daily. The yatra seasons in 2020 and 2021 were limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
