This has caused further tension within the family since the seat is currently held by Chirag's uncle, Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras. Chirag's claim to the seat is based on his father's previous representation of the constituency, but this move has drawn protests from the rival Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party. The situation is causing difficulties for the BJP, the LJP's senior partner in the NDA alliance, with the upcoming LS elections.
