No hangman, no gallows in any of Andhra Pradesh's 4 central jails

Andhra Pradesh has 14 prisoners on death row, but there is no hangman in any of the state's central prisons. The prisoners' appeals against capital punishment are still pending in courts, and it could take years before a final verdict is reached. The lack of hanging facilities in the prisons is due to the absence of such cases in the state for a long time. However, the prisons and correctional services department is prepared to construct makeshift gallows and bring in a hangman from another state if needed.
