NewsClick row: Delhi court extends judicial custody of Prabir Purkayastha, Amit Chakravarty till October 25
The judicial custody of NewsClick's founder and Editor-in-Chief Prabir Purkayastha and HR head Amit Chakravarty has been extended until October 25, 2023, by the Patiala House Court in Delhi. They were arrested under the anti-terror law UAPA following allegations that news portal NewsClick received money for pro-China propaganda. Purkayastha's lawyer argued that the allegations made against him are absurd and questioned how reporting or questioning the government's COVID policy could be considered a terrorist act.
