Friday prayers at Srinagar Jamia Masjid barred for 2nd week
Friday, 20 October 2023 Apprehending protests and demonstrations over the Israel-Palestine war, the J&K administration barred Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar for the second consecutive week. In a statement, the mosque’s management board, Anjuman Auqaf, said police closed the entry gates of Jamia Masjid and directed the body not to open them for Friday prayers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to make a significant visit to Srinagar, marking his first trip to Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. The Prime Minister is expected to address a public meeting and unveil multiple development projects worth more than Rs 6,400 crore.
