Over 100 madrassas in the district have been found to be without proper documentation, and notices have been sent to their managers. The district administration has warned 12 seminaries that they will be charged Rs 10,000 per day unless they close immediately. However, the chairman of the UP Board of Madrassa Education claims that madrassas are not subject to the same rules and regulations as ordinary schools.
