GST bill of Rs 11,139 crore, Goa casino firms move court

Three petitions challenging a show-cause notice demanding Rs 11,139 crore in GST for casino operations have been admitted by the Bombay High Court in Goa. The companies involved will respond to the notice by December 15th. The notice seeks to levy GST, interest, and penalties that could amount to over Rs 22,250 crore. The companies argue that the notice is based on Section 31A of the CGST Rules, 2017, and are also challenging other notifications and circulars issued under the CGST Act. The court has scheduled a final hearing for February 2024.
