Efforts on to free veterans in Qatar, says Navy chief
The Indian government is making all efforts to secure the release of eight naval veterans who have been incarcerated and sentenced to death in Qatar. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R. Hari Kumar stated that every effort is being made to find relief for the personnel through legal means. The veterans were arrested without warning or specific charges while working for a Qatar firm to train their naval personnel for a submarine project. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar assured the families of the veterans that the government is giving the case the highest importance.
