Delhi gulped less beer this summer
Tuesday, 31 October 2023
The sale of beer in Delhi has seen a sharp fall and negative growth of nearly 38% between April and September 2023 compared to the same period last year. Industry players attribute this to supply-related issues and non-availability of certain brands. Bigger states like West Bengal and Karnataka registered double-digit growth, while Delhi's neighbors Uttar Pradesh and Haryana saw a marginal drop in sales. Availability of premium brands and chilled beer in shops, as well as frequent policy changes, are cited as reasons for sluggish sales.
