Women are backbone of Parliament, country's economic development: Dhankhar

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has stated that women are essential to the functioning of Parliament and the economic development of the country. He believes that their presence will help in the evolution of policies that address larger issues. Dhankhar also mentioned that a minimum of one-third of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies will soon be reserved for women candidates. He commended the passing of the women's reservation bill in Parliament and offered to invite interns from Miranda House for a course on parliamentary procedures.
