Set up MRO in India: DGCA to Pratt & Whitney
Friday, 3 November 2023
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India has urged Pratt & Whitney (PW) to establish a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in the country due to ongoing engine issues. PW engines used in Airbus A320neo planes have been experiencing problems for the past 5-6 years. IndiGo, one of the largest customers for these planes, has already grounded 50 aircraft awaiting PW replacement engines. PW has expressed its interest in exploring MRO opportunities in India, but warned that hundreds of engines may need to be grounded globally for checks.
