‘Congress contesting Chhattisgarh elections using hawala operators’: Smriti Irani slams Bhupesh Baghel after ED's claims
Saturday, 4 November 2023 Union minister Smriti Irani has accused Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of receiving a Rs 500 crore kickback for the Congress party's election campaign. Irani alleged that the party used hawala transactions to fund its campaign in the state. The Enforcement Directorate has arrested a cash courier boy who was delivering a large sum of cash for election expenses. The ED claims that a total of Rs 508 crore was disbursed to Baghel by the promoters of the Mahadev betting app. The chief minister has accused the BJP of targeting him through central investigation agencies.
