Unseasonal rain and thunderstorms surprised Mumbai residents over the weekend. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of the city reached a satisfactory level of 94. Last year, November had no rain, but in 2021, the city experienced 30.1 mm of rain. The rainfall recorded by IMD Colaba observatory was 9.2 mm, while IMD Santa Cruz observatory recorded 5.2 mm. The heavy thunderstorm was caused by a western disturbance trough, severe wind confluence, and an upper air trough with an embedded circulation.
