Poll 2023: Congress leading in 45 seats, BJP in 30 in initial trends in counting of votes in Chhattisgarh

Congress and BJP are in a close contest in Chhattisgarh as Congress leads in 45 seats and BJP in 32 seats. Deepak Baij and Arun Sao, the state Congress President and BJP state chief respectively, initially trailed behind their counterparts but later took the lead. The counting of votes for all 90 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh commenced at 8 am on Sunday. A clear picture of the new assembly composition is expected by 2.30pm, indicating whether the Congress will retain power or the BJP will emerge victorious.
