India has high mortality rates due to antimicrobial resistance, with one child dying every nine minutes from illnesses caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda can help improve the situation by focusing on improving immunity and preventing unnecessary antibiotic use. Overprescribing, improper treatment, livestock and fish farming, poor infection control, and sanitation contribute to antimicrobial resistance. The lack of new antibiotics in the last three decades has worsened the problem. Ayurveda promotes balanced diets and can play a significant role in addressing this issue.
