North-South divide deepens in BJP

Internal discord within BJP escalates as demand for representation for North Karnataka gains momentum. Senior MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and other legislators press for role in party hierarchy. Arvind Bellad may be appointed as deputy LoP in the assembly. Sunil Vallyapur and Raghunath Malkapure are frontrunners for LoP in the council. Central leadership also faces challenge of placating members from coastal Karnataka.
