Sushil Modi calls for mandatory declaration of assets by judges

IndiaTimes Monday, 11 December 2023
BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi suggests amending existing law or framing new legislation to make annual declaration of assets mandatory for high court and Supreme Court judges. Currently, ministers, civil servants, and elected representatives are required to declare their assets. Modi highlights that the Supreme Court has directed candidates to declare their assets before elections. He emphasizes that anyone holding a public office should declare annual details of their properties to maintain public trust in the judicial system. Modi also notes that the voluntary declaration of assets by judges should be made mandatory again.
