'Remove your shoes', say security personnel at Parliament a day after security breach
Drastic security changes were implemented in the Parliament premises following a major security breach. Security personnel now insist on removing shoes during entrance checks, similar to airport security measures. This comes after two individuals broke into the Lok Sabha, jumped from the visitors' gallery, and released smoke cans hidden in their shoes. The tightened security applies to all individuals, including Parliament staff and media personnel. Additionally, media has been restricted from standing near the 'Makar Dwar' entrance of the New Parliament building. Four people have been arrested under anti-terror charges for the breach.
