Girl, 8, raped; assault on 5th child in Madhya Pradesh in last 10 days

An eight-year-old girl was raped by a neighbour in her village in Chitrakoot area of Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district. This is the fifth child rape to be reported in the state in 10 days, including the gang rape of two minors. The child was raped on December 17 and her mother, who is paralyzed and bedridden, couldn't inform the police. The girl's father filed a complaint, leading to the arrest of the 19-year-old accused who had recently moved into the Chitrakoot locality.
