Just one runway for low visibility landings at Delhi airport adds to flight delays across India

The mild winter in Delhi has caused delays and diversions at the IGI Airport due to dense fog and the closure of the main runway for repairs. The lack of low-visibility operation-trained crew and the use of the wrong planes contribute to delays and cancellations. The on-time performance of airlines on foggy days has been low. Domestic flights have been almost 90% full, but passengers have faced delays. The situation is worsened by the small window of winter holidays. Measures such as informing passengers in advance and deploying fog-resistant aircraft should be taken to reduce passenger woes.
