India takes major steps towards an eco-friendly transformation in 2023. The National Electricity plan (NEP) aims to increase non-fossil-based capacity to 68.4% by 2031-32. The National Green Hydrogen Mission positions India as a global centre for green hydrogen production. The Green Credits Programme incentivizes positive environmental impact, while amendments in environmental and forest laws improve eco-friendliness. However, challenges remain with India's dependence on fossil fuels, pollution, water crisis, extreme weather conditions, and garbage disposal problems.
