'Har Ghar Jal': 5.33 crore rural houses yet to get tap water connection, says RTI reply
Sunday, 31 December 2023 Around 5.33 crore houses in rural areas of India have not yet been provided tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission-'Har Ghar Jal'. The worst affected states are Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. The government has supplied tap water to 13.91 crore rural houses so far, out of a total of 19.25 crore houses. The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has provided this data in response to an RTI application. The 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme aims to provide tap water to every village household by 2024.
