Achieved 95% conviction rate, arrested 625 accused in '23: NIA
Sunday, 31 December 2023 NIA identifies 43 suspects linked to vandalism on Indian high commissions in UK, US, and Canada. 50 raids, 80 people examined in India. Overall conviction rate of 94.7%, 625 arrests, attachment of 240 assets worth Rs 56 crore. 28% rise in arrests, including ISIS, jihadi terror, human trafficking, terrorist and organized crime, and LWE cases. 68 cases registered in 2023, including jihadi terror, J&K, LWE, Punjab, north-east, and fake currency. 513 chargesheeted, 74 convicted. 47 accused tracked down and arrested. Increase in searches and raids, attachment of properties worth Rs 56 crore.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Taahaa, key suspects in the Bengaluru cafe blast. Muzammil Shareef was also arrested for aiding the blast. Associated with ISIS modules, they were involved in various terror activities. The blast injured nine, emphasizing the urgency of apprehending remaining suspects.
