India, Nepal seal 10,000 MW hydropower deal for 10 years

India and Nepal signed agreements for the purchase of 10,000 MW of hydropower by India from Nepal. The agreement will facilitate export of 10,000 MW of electricity from Nepal to India in the next 10 years. During the visit, India also announced grant assistance to Nepal worth $75 million for reconstruction of earthquake affected areas. Three other agreements were also signed, including one for the implementation of high impact community development projects. Various aspects of Nepal-India ties were discussed, as noted by Nepal's foreign ministry.
