'Will bring back harmony, peace': Rahul Gandhi kicks off 'Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra' from Manipur
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday promised to bring peace and harmony to the strife-torn Manipur while kicking off Congress' 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' from the hill state. The former Congress president also hit out at Prime Minister Modi, saying "Perhaps for the BJP and the RSS, Manipur was not a part of India". The widespread ethnic violence broke out in the northeastern state in May last year, which claimed more than 180 lives and rendered thousands homeless.
