Man held for stealing wife's car worth 4.5lakh to pay off debt

Udhna police in Gujarat arrested a man who faked the theft of his wife's car to pay off debts. The arrested man confessed to plotting the theft with his friend and making a duplicate key ahead of the incident. She complained that her Swift Dezire car was stolen from outside her home in Gayatri Kurpa-2 society on the night of Jan 6. Kanchan declared the car's worth as Rs 4.5 lakh. SN Desai, police inspector, began an investigation. He first scanned CCTV footage of the area and suspected the hand of Kanchan's husband, Govardhan.
