New law decriminalising use of biological resources by vaids, hakims and Ayush practitioners to come into force from April 1

The Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act 2023, which decriminalizes the use of biological resources by 'vaids', 'hakims', and Ayush practitioners practicing indigenous medicines, will come into force on April 1. This Act exempts Ayush practitioners, who practice Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy, from sharing benefits for accessing biological resources.
