NH construction to touch 13,000 km, no highway less than 2 lanes in 4-5 yrs: Union road transport secretary

National Highway (NH) construction will be around 13,000 km by Mar this year and all NH stretches in plain terrains will be made at least two-and-half lanes in the next 4-5 years, Union road transport secretary Anurag Jain said on Friday. Citing how huge government investment with more than 9-fold increase in budget allocation over the last 10 years has accelerated highway construction, he said the share of single-lane highways has come down to barely 10% of the entire 1.1 lakh km NH network compared to 30% in 2014-15.
