Cancer risk for under-75 in India 10.6%: UN agency
Saturday, 3 February 2024 The likelihood of an individual developing cancer before the age of 75 is 10.6%, significantly lower than the corresponding rates in the US (34.3%) and Canada (32.2%). Despite this difference, Indians face an equal susceptibility to the risk of death from cancer. According to recent data from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the mortality risk in India stands at 7.2% for individuals under 75 years, while in both the US and Canada, it is slightly higher at 8.8%. This information was released in anticipation of World Cancer Day.
