Discordant note: Carnatic singers protest against award for musician

Renowned Carnatic artists Ranjani and Gayathri, along with Harikatha exponent Dushyanth Sridhar, have decided to boycott the Music Academy's upcoming festival in Chennai. This move comes in response to the recent awarding of Sangita Kalanidhi to T M Krishna by the academy. Ranjani and Gayathri have opted out of their scheduled performance on Dec 25 and will not take part in the conference from Dec 15 to Jan 1.
