New Delhi (ABC Live) The Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Mr. Mukul Wasnik, gave away prizes to the winners of ‘Dr. Ambedkar Foundation National Essay Competition (DAF-NEC) – 2011, in a ceremony held on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on 14th April, 2012, in New Delhi. Secretary (SJ&E), Mr. K. M. Acharya, Addl. Secretary (SJ&E) Mr. Anoop Kumar Srivastava,Vice-Chairman (DAF), Mr.. F. H. Jakkappanavar and Members of DAF attended the ceremony.

 

Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF), an autonomous body working under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, launched a New Scheme, viz. ‘Dr. Ambedkar Foundation National Essay Competition Scheme’ and organized the first competition under the scheme during the month of December, 2011, with the collaboration of DAF funded Dr. Ambedkar Chair at Aligarh Muslim University.

 

The aim of the DAF-NEC is to encourage writing on social issues, among the Students of Schools / Colleges / Universities / Institutions and arouse their interest in Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts on fundamental social issues like social justice, removal of untouchability, caste based prejudices, removal of inequality and discrimination, social democracy, national integration, communal harmony etc.

 

As per the Scheme, the prize money to the winners of the competition is to be given as under:
