NASA releases video of Northern Lights seen from spaceby

NASA has released a time-lapse video of the Northern Lights as seen from the International Space Station

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have captured breathtaking views of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, using a new time-lapse photographic technique.

Hundreds of individual still frames - snapped every 3-5 seconds - have been combined into a time-lapse video.

"I put it together just to see what it would look like and it came out looking spectacular," said NASA Earth scientist Melissa Dawson who created the video.
