Sunak: We will not accept interference in our democracy
Rishi Sunak has insisted he has made clear to China that the UK will not tolerate attempts to undermine its democracy, following allegations of spying at the heart of Parliament.
Speaking in the House of Commons, the prime minister said: “We will defend our democracy and our security…I have been emphatically clear in our engagement with China that we will not accept any interference in our democracy and parliamentary system.” Report by Buseld.

Rishi Sunak has reassured the public following a major data breach at the Ministry of Defence, which impacted a third-party payroll system. "I do want to reassure people the Ministry of Defence has already taken action, removing the network and taking it offline and making sure the people affected are supported in the right way," he said. Rishi Sunak said the conflict in Gaza "must end" as he addressed MPs in the House of Commons. The prime minister said he will be speaking to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to express solidarity and to discuss how we can prevent further escalation. "Nothing that has happened over the last 48 hours affects our position on Gaza. The whole country wants to see an end to the bloodshed and to see more humanitarian support going in," he added.
