Polling for single-phase elections in Telangana began on Thursday.
The votes for all states where polling was held would be counted on December 3.
AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi appealed to people to come out and vote as the voter turnout stood at 8.59 per cent till 9 am.
"I urge the people of Telangana to exercise their vote to create more confidence in the Constitution, to strengthen democracy and to ensure that development and communal harmony in the state continues," said Owaisi.
