Kartikeya, also known as Skanda (/skən̪d̪ə/), Subrahmanya, Shanmukha (/ɕɑnmʊkʰə/) and Murugan (/mʊɾʊgən/), is the Hindu god of war. He is generally described as the son of the deities Shiva and Parvati and the brother of Ganesha.
