Credit card e-spend growth 2x in-stores' during Diwali

Credit card spending on e-commerce sites surged by 25% during the five days of Diwali 2023 compared to 2022, as per Visa's payment data analysis. Concurrently, overall credit card spending grew by approximately 18%. During Diwali 2023, jewellery stores, electronic stores, and grocery stores/supermarkets emerged as the top categories for in-store commerce. In online transactions, apparel and accessories and discount store merchandise were popular, indicating a consumer shift towards online clothing purchases.
