Apple iPhone India production: Tata plans big new factory

Tata Group plans to build a large iPhone assembly plant in India, partnering with Apple Inc to increase manufacturing in the country. The plant, located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, will have about 20 assembly lines and employ 50,000 workers within two years. Apple aims to localize its supply chain and strengthen its partnership with Tata. The Indian conglomerate has already accelerated hiring at its existing facility in Hosur and plans to launch 100 retail stores focused on Apple products.
