Over 24.8cr people moved out of multidimensional poverty in India in 9 years: NITI report
Monday, 15 January 2024 According to a recent NITI Aayog report, 24.82 crore individuals in India have escaped out of multidimensional poverty between 2013-14 and 2022-23. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh have exhibited the most notable reduction in this aspect. The report defines multidimensional poverty based on advancements in healthcare, education, and standard of living. The NITI discussion paper highlighted that India's multidimensional poverty has decreased from 29.17% in 2013-14 to 11.28% in 2022-23. NITI Aayog's approach to measuring multidimensional poverty involved considering 12 indicator.
