Budget 2024: Roof over head for 1 crore urban poor in next 5 years

A central assistance of Rs 2.2 lakh crore over the next five years is aimed at meeting the housing requirement of 1 crore urban poor and middle-class families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban. Govt has also proposed an interest subsidy to provide loans at affordable rates. FM Nirmala Sitharaman said 3 crore additional houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in rural and urban areas had been announced and for this, the necessary allocations were being made.
