Stock market today: Asian shares mostly advance after Wall St comeback from worst loss since 2022
Friday, 26 July 2024 () Shares are mostly higher in Asia after Wall Street made a comeback from its worst loss since 2022. U.S. futures and oil prices also rose early Friday after most U.S. stocks climbed following a surprisingly strong report on the U.S. economy that raised hopes for profits at smaller companies. Continued weakness for some Big Tech stocks including Nvidia and Microsoft weighed on the S&P 500, though, and the index fell 0.5%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.2%, and the Nasdaq composite lost 0.9%. An update is due later Friday about the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation.
