Stock market today: Asian shares mostly rise after Wall Street rally led by Nvidia
Tuesday, 7 January 2025 () Asian shares are mostly higher, deriving optimism from rising technology stocks on Wall Street, led by Nvidia. Benchmarks rose in early Tuesday trading in Japan, South Korea and Australia, while sliding in Hong Kong. U.S. indexes recover more of their holiday-season slide. The S&P 500 climbed 0.6% Monday for its second straight gain following five straight losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost an early gain to slip 0.1%. The Nasdaq composite rose 1.2%. Nippon Steel, whose attempt to takeover U.S. Steel is being blocked by the Biden administration, fell but its chief executive vowed to keep pushing the deal.
